Birthday Party Attendee FAQ

Hey Friends! We are so glad you’ll be joining us for a celebration out at Friends of the Forest!  We wanted to share a few things before you come out to the farm, so we can be sure everyone is ready to have a wonderful adventure while with us!

What will the kids be doing?

  • We have lots of options in our play spaces, from gravel mountain to mud kitchen, stick painting, chalk, fairy world, giant blocks, tire swing, jumping logs and trails throughout our 90 acre property.  There’s lots to do and definitely something for everyone!

What will the grownups be doing?

  • Children come to the farm with different levels of skills and awareness regarding outdoor play. Please, for the safety of your child and the other children, keep an eye on your kiddos.  There’s lots of space and lots of ways children can get injured.  We pride ourselves on having an excellent record regarding injuries, but this is maintained by the active participation of parents and other adults.

  • You are expected to stay on the property while your child is in attendance, unless you have made arrangements for another parent to be responsible for your child.

  • Play! When was the last time you made a mud pie, anyway?

What do we bring?

  • Come prepared to get dirty! This means play clothes and shoes, as well as a change for the ride home.

  • Water bottles are a good idea, and we’ll have a water cooler for refills available.  Most parties will be serving cake, drinks and snacks but a water bottle never hurts for outdoor play!

  • We have a fair amount of seating available, but you may want to bring a folding outdoor chair just in case.

  • Hats, sunscreen, bug spray, mittens, coat, jacket, and any other weather/season appropriate outdoor gear.  In the heat of summer, we’ll often have water options, so you may want to bring a swimsuit if you’d prefer them not to get their clothes soaked!

Anything else?

  • We will have a liability waiver to sign upon arrival.  It states “Parents and guardians are responsible for their own child(ren) and as such, Friends of the Forest Nature School and the property owner cannot be held liable for injury or incident.”

  • Additionally, there is a photo release, to which you may agree or disagree.  We strive to show what the kids are doing, not who they are, and avoid faces in our promotional photos if at all possible.  If you would prefer your child not to be photographed, please let staff (Bee) know so they will not be included in photos.

  • There is a restroom available for use as needed, but we’re also fine with Nature Pee for the little ones that can’t quite make the journey.

Please remember that this farm is home to people, plants, animals, birds and insects, and it requires diligence to keep it a natural and beautiful space.  Please be mindful of garbage! We’ll have cans for trash and recycling available, but we need your help to ensure this place stays safe and lovely for all creatures to enjoy.
