About Us
Briana Larsen, Founder
I am a local music educator, specializing in early childhood music and movement. After teaching in the school system for a brief time and several years of freelancing in local preschools and daycares, I yearned for a setting in which young children could be just that - children!
As a nature lover myself, I began looking into the forest school model and ideas and fell in love with its focus on experience, inquiry, exploration and stewardship. With this in mind, Friends of the Forest Nature School strives to foster the social, emotional, physical and creative development of each child through outdoor free-play and activities.
I live in Clarksville with my husband Bill and our son Jack on 10 acres, which we are slowly developing into a self-sufficient homestead. I received a BS and MM in Music Education from APSU, in addition to several certifications in different music pedagogies for children. I have taught music in a variety of settings for over ten years in the area and am excited to lead and learn with children in the Great Outdoors. I am passionate about the development young children as whole beings and strive to continually grow as an educator and parent through research, education and observation.
Friends of the Forest Nature School is situated on nearly 90 acres of land in Adams, TN. I grew up on this family farm which is home to both old and new growth forest, meadows, ponds, crop fields, several acres of river front along the Red River, and a vast array of plants and animals.
We hope you will join us soon at 2645 Gunn Rd. Adams, TN!
